We need help with journalism, design, publicity, networking. You could also host an information or fundraising event in your office, organisation or home.
Perhaps you can give a week of your time, or a month, or 6 months to volunteer in the office, helping with donor relations, and developing our website and publicity materials. Please download one of the following application forms and send back to info@fivetalents.org.uk:
Internship Application Form (UK Office): minimum one month duration
General Volunteering Application Form (UK Office)
Overseas Volunteering
Join a Business team on a short visit to one of our partners overseas. See Frequently Asked Questions about these trips. Longer term volunteers may wish to apply for the Fellows Programme (see below) to work alongside local staff in our project locations.
Priya Jamus spent a month (June 2009) in Tanzania working with the Mama Bahati Foundation. You can read her blog here.
Read the blogs of previous candidates - such as Simon Lee in Uganda, Erik Josephson in Peru or Edd Parker in Tanzania. Contact the UK office to discuss these possibilities, including the Fellows Programme below.
Five Talents Fellows Programme
The Five Talents Fellows Programme offers business professionals, graduate students, theology undergraduates and clergy a unique way to lend their talents to serve the poor overseas through Christian microenterprise development. In partnership with one of our 12 programmes in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, Fellows will be deployed in a short-term mission capacity for six months to one year. The Five Talents Fellow is an unpaid, volunteer-based position designed to strengthen the work of Five Talents in fighting poverty, creating jobs, and transforming lives by advancing the goals of our local partner institutions. Available positions will vary depending on our partners' needs, but may include one of the following:
- Technical training
- Grant writing
- Data collection
- Operations management
- Social impact research
Successful Five Talent Fellows will have the following characteristics:
- Overseas experience (especially in developing countries)
- Excellent communication skills
- Organisational skills, self-motivation, and flexibility
- Ability and commitment to raise support or provide funds for their placement
- Ability to be deployed for six months to one year (research projects may last for 3-6 months)
- Enthusiasm for Five Talents and holistic Christian microenterprise development
Five Talents Fellows form an integral part of the work of Five Talents, actively supporting us in our mission by assisting our local partners with meaningful projects or research. Fellows will fulfill a specific work plan laid out by their mentor at one of our partner organisations, who will act as their direct supervisor. In addition, Fellows assist Five Talents by acting as eyes and ears in the field and spreading the word about Five Talents through various communication outlets such as providing information for marketing materials, blogging, and speaking engagements.
